Simplify simple

Updated: Jun 28, 2019

Complication. I recently went to my hometown and my cousin came with her husband... So, word by word, we have come to the conclusion that her husband, the German, must pass the Croatian language test to get permission here. So we talked about the comparison of German and Croatian grammar. He said that Croatian grammar is much more complicated than German and that it is terribly difficult to learn it.  In joking, I added "If we Croats had such a simple grammar as Germans, we would make not only BMW but spacecraft." He just laughed at it.

Complexity. Seven years ago a prospective young rail expert told me "The railroad is not complicated, the railroad is complex. Only railworkers have made it complicated through the years and therefore it seems trere is no solution for improvement and development. "

Simplicity. There is a saying: "The best solution for complex situations is simplicity". The simple principle Simplifies is simply managed on the basis of such thoughts and is a constant effort to make matters simpler with more effective achievements.

The features of this principle are as simple as possible, structured and complete, while the effectiveness of the principle is based on a reduction in the number of constituents, without going to the detriment of wholeness or improvisation.

The principle of simplifying is easy to apply in any area of life and work of an individual and in the work of an organization so it is also interesting for railway companies.

Example. At the Črnomerec station the rain is falling. The train comes lightly. It's chock-full, and there are about twenty passengers on the platform. There are no more places for anyone. The train stands as long as people try to slip into the train at all costs. Even a driver comes out and helps everybody get in and see if  the door was locked. The train moves and everyone arrives at the destination. Wet, dirty and broken. Fortunately, tomorrow it does not rain. The situation is similar. The train is full again, and the passengers are waiting on the platform, hoping for better luck. This time there is other driver, waiting in his cabin while people are pushing. The train is still standing. The door can not be closed. Alarm rings occasionally. Behind us on the signal stands the next train. After 5-6 minutes we go. And tomorrow again .... And that complicated situation has no solution. Unless you try to simplify the situation and clearly define the roles of the infrastructure manager, railway company in passenger transport and railway traction company. All are in the function of providing quality service to passengers and everyone must do their part responsibly and professionally. If this is not defined, passengers will look for alternative solutions and that line will one day become unprofitable and unnecessary.
