Like Columbus discovered America, looking for India,

I discovered you by accident.

Although we had been living in the same neighborhood for years,

we had never met before.

By then, we had probably been

walking at the same time on different streets and

on the same streets at different times.

Possibly on the same street at the same time, but

in the opposite direction.

And if we did meet,

you didn't know it was me, just like

I didn't know it was you. ...

Like Columbus discovered America, looking for India,

I discovered you by accident.

Then, literally,

death brought us closer and love united us.

And ever since then

I celebrate the coincidence, though I don't know if

it exists at all.
