Application of the "five tools" model to solve problems accumulated in railway companies

For the past decade, a number of experts from the social sciences such as psychologists, pedagogues and others participated in traffic safety conferences.

This is not strange because although technical and technological solutions have been brought to the highest levels of excellence and reliability in work, the percentage of traffic accidents is still very high. Psychologists, pedagogues and others, participated in traffic safety conferences. How are the traffic organizations interested in the importance of the involvement of social scientists and the promotion of traffic safety?

One of the answers can be found in the experimental work of the "Tools" of two authors; Phil Stutz and Barry Michels, and using the "Five Tools" model to solve problems accumulated in railway companies.

And these five tools have interesting names: Turning Desire, Active Love, Inner Authority, Flow of Thanksgiving and Risk.

Active love and trains? hm ... Interesting, right? Do you talk about falling in love in trains or something else? Maybe how to deal with problems with invisible force like love.

The Turning Desire tool is used when you need to do something that is avoided and live in the pleasure zone. It is usually avoided to do what is painful and you prefer to stay in the same place. Applying the tool allows the action of an individual despite the pain or fear that blocks any movement.  Accepting and dealing with discomfort often takes us out from it and we move forward. How to deal with what is not good and what demands change? Exit from the comfort zone means a change and a change must be managed. The solution is to effectively manage security processes and changes.

Tool Active love is best used in cases when an individual is angry and can not stop thinking about it, but wants revenge and enters the labyrinth, putting his life on hold. The more he enters into such a situation, the harder it is to get out of it, and the person spins in recurring thoughts. Accepting all that is, we resolve the feeling of injustice and give ourselves the ability to act. Business conflicts are most commonly encountered due to poor communication and therefore it is necessary to establish internal and external communications of safety.

Tool Internal Authorization is best used when an individual has difficulty to express himself or he has a blockade in communication with other people.

Honest expression, unburdened by the approval of others, also allows external self-expression powers. Uncertainty of action is systematically addressed by improving internships and systematic development of railroad workers through lifelong learning.

Tool The flow of gratitude is applied when thoughts are filled with the concern, the hatred of the individual towards himself, or some other form of negative thinking, so the person is in the "black cloud". Life then becomes a struggle for survival instead of being filled because of its great potential. That is why it is necessary to fight negative thoughts. This is achieved by effective planning.

The rail system is not inclined for rapid changes. Long-term goals, traffic system development strategies, and mid-term goals of the national program need to be translated into the development business plans of railway companies. This would create for workers a sense of safety and gratitude to the company.

The Risk tool is used when for some reason the individual gives up the tools and activities mentioned above, which is why the progress is stopped and destroyed. Power of will is the only force we have to create ourselves. By managing business and security risks, it is avoided to relinquish the odds, magic, or hope of some more force.

Anyway, if you like the Phil Stutz and Barry Michels tools, why not apply them in some other situations and so in a simple way to bring psychology closer to traditional companies.
